Welcome to Health and Social Care NVQ
Health and Social Care NVQ
A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) is a work associated qualification that is intended to recognise your abilities & competence in your employment. There is a number of NVQs available ranging in different subjects and each NVQ reflects the skills you need to do a specific job effectively. This website focuses on the Health and Social Care NVQ.
A Health & Social Care NVQ is part of a recognised national occupational standard, which explain what duties you are expected to carry out at your place of employment. NVQs can be undertaken by people in employment, or by students with a part time job or at a work placement.
To gain a Health & Social Care NVQ you need to complete a number of units that will be assessed by qualified NVQ Assessor. With the help of the assessor, you will identify what you can do already, agree on what level you are looking to achieve, and work out a plan on how you can attain your target. You will be observed by the assessor at your place of employment. The Assessor will ask you questions and ask you to gather evidence to prove you competent to meet the standards needed to complete an NVQ.
"I took an NVQ in Health and Social Care and found it easier to get a higher paying job." Rosanne Surley, Lewisham.
